Turning three was a BIG deal for Sloan. She was super excited for her third birthday! Everyday our conversations consisted of her telling me how she was going to blow out her candles on her “Happy birthday” cake. By the way, we only paid $11 for her cake. It seems like only yesterday that she was barely five pounds.
This year I knew we were’t having a big party. I was only two weeks postpartum, so we kept it sweet and simple. I kept entertaining the thought of inviting a few of her little friends over. Eventually, I decided against it because I didn’t want to overwhelm myself.
This year Sloan welcomed her baby sister, Saige. To our surprise, she is loving the role of being a big sister. They’ll also share the same birthday month for the rest of their lives. I can’t wait to see how this turns out in a few years.
As of late, one of her most used lines to me is “wait a minute.” I can’t help but to think back to my childhood years when I would tell my mom the same thing. One minute became two, two minutes became one hour, and it usually resulted in me not doing what I was told. Wow! The joys of parenting. Besides, toddlers really have no idea what a minute is.

She is such a joy, and the most amazing three year old I’ve ever seen (aren’t all kids the most amazing little humans to their parents?).
She’s wise. She’s witty. She’s gorgeous. She’s mine…and I can’t wait to see the places this sweet soul will go.
Here’s to year three and many more to come.
